Q: How may I obtain a copy of my training transcripts?
A: Yes. For North Central Academy training only,
contact Faye Stallworth at 770.499.5080. For all other training,
check the P.O.S.T. web site at www.gapost.org
Q: What classes are required for intermediate certification?
A: Criminal Procedure, First Responder, Health and
Wellness, Interpersonal Communications/Crisis Intervention, Officer
Survival
Q: What classes are required for advanced certification?
A: Advanced Firearms, Advanced Report Writing, Advanced
Traffic Law, Crime Scene Processing, Interviews/Interrogations, Search
warrants/affidavits, Specialized Patrol
Q: If I leave law enforcement, how many hours do I need
when I return?
A: If you got 20 hours in the year you quit, you
will only need 20 hours in the year you return to law enforcement. If
you didn't get 20 hours in the year you quit, you will need 20 hours for
that year plus each year you were out of law enforcement. For more information

Q: If I am P.O.S.T.
certified but not currently employed in law enforcement, may I sign up for
classes?
A: Yes, but you must pay $12 per hour of training.
You may attend inservice classes for free.

Q: What are the requirements for becoming a Law
Enforcement Officer in Georgia?
A: You must complete the 10-week (408 Hour) basic
training program. For other requirements, see www.gapost.org.
Q: May I attend the Basic Law Enforcement class by paying
for it myself?
A: Yes, This is called the Pre-Service Program. For

Q: When is the next Basic Law Enforcement Course?
A: The Basic Law Enforcment classes are listed on
the Academy Course Schedule.
Q: How much is the Basic Law Enforcement Class?
A: $2,580.00 -- This does not include other fees
associated with the Pre-Service program which brings the total Pre-Service
cost to a little over $3,000.00.
Q: Where should I have my fingerprints done?
A: Under new P.O.S.T. rules, an applicant may have
hisfingerprints done at any school or law enforcement agency. The applicant must ensure
that the following information is on the card:

Q: Will I be able to obtain HOPE scholarship money to
attend the Basic course?
A: Yes, for the Pre-Service program only. Sponsored
and other students are not eligible. For HOPE information, please contact

Q: Will the Veterans Administration pay for the Basic
course?
A: Yes, tuition must be paid by the veteran on the
first day of class. The veteran must also fill out VA Form 22- 1999.

Q: What are the requirements for becoming a Law
Enforcement Officer in Georgia?
A: You must complete the 10-week (408 Hour) basic

Q: If I was a peace officer in another state, do I have to
complete the entire 10 week Basic course?
A: No, P.O.S.T. will decide what classes you need.
Usually, 200 hours are required. For more information, you may call
